Our Founder

In 2002, after more than a decade spent practicing entertainment law and working as an executive for the pay television network, Home Box Office, Royce Battleman, a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Law School, wandered into her first yoga class and fell in love with the combination of physical and soul-centering practices offered there.

Today, in addition to a decade spent deepening her own personal yoga and meditation practices, Royce has received training in mindfulness education from Daniel Rechtschaffen, founder of Mindful Children and the Mindful Education Institute, and is currently pursuing a Yoga Alliance teaching certification in children’s yoga with Little Flower Yoga. Over the years Royce has also studied extensively with Jackie Prete, founder of Ram Sangha Yoga and Rudrani Farbman, founder of the World Yoga Center on New York’s Upper West Side. She also includes Eckhart Tolle and Pema Chodron as two of her most influential teachers.

Royce lives in Westchester, New York with her husband, David, their two children, their dog, Sasha, and a family of tropical fish each very special in its own way. Zen Under Ten is the fruition of years of study and practice and a labor of love inspired by Royce’s passion to share the benefits of these practices with her family and yours.
