Our Mission

Our hopes and dreams at Zen Under Ten are inspired by the four heart-opening wishes of Metta Meditation practice. They are our heart-felt desires for you and your children:

May you be safe. No one can feel safe when they feel stressed out, unhappy and powerless. Zen Under Ten is committed to helping children and the adults who care for them discover that they have the power to be an agent of change in their own lives and the world around them.

May you be happy. Zen Under Ten’s deepest wish is that the practices we teach will instill in our families and schools life-long habits that cultivate happiness and compassion, both for ourselves and others.

May you be healthy. The practices that make up the Zen Under Ten curriculum have been shown to improve the health and well-being of practitioners across the globe. We hope that participants in our programs will discover for themselves, through their own direct experience of enhanced well-being, the benefits of mindfulness and the other practices we teach.

May you be peaceful and at ease. Whether it is stories of childhood obesity, teenage depression or violence in schools, it seems like almost every day we hear another account of our children suffering under the weight of all the demands we place on them. Zen Under Ten is committed to helping students, teachers and families find a way to thrive, despite today’s pressures, using mindfulness, simple gratitude practices and other techniques that have been shown to reduce stress and increase resiliency, self-esteem and positivity.
