Once Upon a Mat – Yoga DVD for Kids Ages 2.5+

My 4 year old loves this collection of short themed yoga practices that can be played one “story” at a time or put together for a longer practice. This is the best of the yoga DVDs I have found for this age group after many disappointments.  I highly recommend it.

YogaDirect Fun Yoga Mat For Kids – Butterfly

My daughter loves this yoga mat with its bright pink color and whimsical butterflies. You can click on this link to find lots of other kid friendly styles. Blue turtles anyone?

Gratitude: A Journal

This is my personal journal of choice. I don’t know if it’s the bright orange color or the simple yellow flowers, but it makes my smile extra-wide each night as I record the three things I am grateful for each night. Click here to read more about the practice of gratitude journalling.

Buckwheat Zafu and Zabuton Meditation Cushion Set (2pc), Black.

I am a huge fan of using both a Zafu (round cushion) and Zabuton (soft rectangular base cushion) for meditation practice. It took me almost ten years to be persuaded to invest in a Zabuton and I can’t believe how much more comfortable it has made my sitting. Don’t waste any time. It is well worth the investment.

Nag Champa Incense Sticks 100 gms.

Incense can be a very personal preference, but I wanted to share these Nag Champa sticks, which are my favorite choice. One word of advice – because our sense of smell is so deeply linked to memory, consistent use of the same scents over a period of time can really help deepen your meditation practice.

Wooden Coffin Incense Burner – Buddha 12″ – Brass Inlays & Storage Compartment.

I like this simple incense burner (ignore the name) because it is well priced and does a great job keeping the ashes from making a mess.

Meditation Timer – Sycamore.

This simple meditation timer starts and ends your practice with a gentle gong. I like the simplicity of the timer’s pre-set options, although it may not be for you if you are looking for the ability to set a timer for random lengths of time, e.g. 18 minutes.
